Swim Lessons

Swim Lessons for Adults

Swim lessons for FSC students are available during the academic year. Students will be instructed by certified Water Safety Instructors and trained based upon swim skill levels or personal goals. Instructors are few, so sign up early as space is limited.

Sign up for lessons at the HWC front desk. Contact Michelle Thompson at 863.680-3742 or email for more information.

Swimming Lessons for Little Ones

Members of the FSC community, as well as the general public, are encouraged to bring their children to the HWC for summer swim lessons! The goals of our program are to enhance swimming ability, to improve physical fitness and to increase self-confidence for participants. Another goal, of course, is to have fun!

Is your child is ready for swim lessons?

Age Requirement. We require that children be at least 3 years old and are completely potty trained. Accidents in the pool will force the pool to be closed until the next day. All classes following the incident will be held outside of the pool on the deck. Children and parents may be a little embarrassed with this type of incident.

Maturity level. Can your child enter new surroundings by him/herself without you holding his/her hand? All classes require the parent to watch from outside the pool gate. Your child may not be able to see you during class. Can your child follow activity instruction for at least 45 minutes?

How do we teach?

Florida Southern uses American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructors for all classes. The student to instructor ratios will be no greater than 9:1. This will ensure that each child receives the individual attention needed to complete each level's required skills.
