Florida Southern’s engaged learning program will prepare students for careers in the field of communication, as well as equip students with skills that will allow them to lead their lives as confident and educated individuals.

Students’ career options depend the major of their choosing:

  • Advertising and Public Relations:
    • Students become qualified for possible careers in sales, development, marketing, administration, art, copywriting, print production, publishing, technical writing, issue management, counseling, employee/member relations, media relations, writing and editing, government relations, risk and crisis communication, world affairs and diplomacy and others.
  • Broadcast, Print, and Online Media:
    • Students become qualified for possible careers in television programming, production, promotion, news reporting, news producing, sportscasting, weather forecasting, anchoring, management, announcing, news reporting, editorial/column writing, investigative journalism, news editing, magazine writing and editing, book publishing, script writing, technical or creative writing, business writing and others.
  • Interpersonal Communication:
    • Students become qualified for possible careers in sales, negotiating, customer service, real estate, hospitality, social work, human resources, fund-raising, employee relations, community affairs and others

Required internships help students decide what they want their future to hold.

No matter the student’s decision upon graduation, one thing is for certain: they will leave Florida Southern as highly skilled communicators who will find that their new skills allow for numerous job opportunities as far as the stretch of their imagination. Students will find their newfound writing, speaking, problem solving, and teamwork skills immeasurably valuable in their future endeavors.
