Harvey Thomas “Tom” Hall ‘69

Tom Hall ’69 heads up the national public relations firm
Tucker/Hall, based in Tampa, Fla. Their clients have included
U.S. Home, AT & T, Publix Super Markets, John Hancock, Sprint,
in addition to 40 other regional, national, and international
organizations. The firm specializes in strategic communications
counseling. Tom is also the founder of ADWEEK magazine’s
creative educational programs and chairman of the Hall Equity
Corporation. His public service has included being founder of
the Governor’s Partnership for a Drug Free Florida, where he
received a lifetime achievement award for his work, chair of the
Florida Aquarium Foundation and a member of the Board of Regents
of Leadership Florida. Over the years he has also served as
marketing counsel to numerous national organizations including
Sears, General Foods, Fox Television Network, Tropicana, Buick
Motor Divisions and Johnson & Johnson.
“My experience at Florida Southern was unusually gratifying
in that I began my career in communications while I was a
senior. This was possible because of my terrific journalism
teacher, Hal Waters, who introduced me to Lawton Chiles, then a
junior state legislator. My second great teacher at FSC was Mel
Wooton, and I have used what I learned in theatre classes many
times in my career.”
