Lance Niekro A:’01
Professional Baseball Player
Lakeland, Fla.
Lance Niekro is a Lakeland, Fla. athlete who played two seasons
for the Moccasins before being drafted. He was a third-team
All-American selection in 2000. Lance is currently in his second
season with the San Francisco Giants making his major league
debut on Sept. 5, 2003. After spending the 2004 season in the
minors, was called up early this season to the Giants. Baseball
greatness runs in the family. His father is former major league
pitcher Joe Niekro and his uncle is Hall of Fame pitcher Phil
Nierko.
