William Phillips ‘68
Vice President and Chief Security and Safety Officer

Chicago, Ill.
Bill’s position entrusts him with the safety and security of CNA
employees and assets, a role he has earned with his proven
track-record in national and international corporate risk
management and consulting. He has testified before Congress on
safety issues and regulations, is active on several American
Society of Mechanical Engineers standard setting committees, and
participates with the State Department’s Overseas Security
Advisory Council. A fellow and former national president of the
American Society of Safety Engineers, he has been recognized
with the Award of Valor from the National Grain and Feed
Association and as an International Person of Distinction from
the Grain Elevator and Processing Society. He takes pride in the
positive impact he makes on the lives of others, and enjoys the
challenge of working across the corporation with a wide variety
of leaders.
