Derrel Bryan, Ed.D.
“"I believe my role as an educator is to provide challenging opportunities for students to grow intellectually and create an interest for life-long inquiry. In my experiences as a former classroom teacher, coach, district administrator, principal and superintendent, I have found opportunities beyond measure that encourage problem-solving and healthy debate. My goal is to never stop learning and persuade my students to do the same.”
Dr. Bryan retired as principal of Lake Placid Middle School in Highlands County in 2011. However, upon his retirement he agreed to work on a contracted basis with Highlands County and assist with the implementation of the newly mandated performance appraisal system for teachers and school leaders. In his career in public education he has served as a classroom teacher, athletic coach, district administrator, superintendent of schools (Fla. & Ga.) and principal."
