Athletic Training Clinical Instructor
“Students learn best when they are actively engaged in their learning. Since Athletic Training requires the acquisition of many physical skills, I try to challenge the students to become as skilled as possible while at the same time understanding the how and why of all that they are doing.”
Gayle Olson is a clinical instructor for Florida Southern's Athletic Training Education program and serves as an Assistant Athletic Trainer providing care for Moccasin student-athletes.
Olson is a licensed and certified athletic training with over 35 year of experience, as she has worked in all the various athletic training settings: high school, college, clinical and industrial, as well as, extensive experience working with Olympic and performing arts athletes.
She is also highly skilled in manual techniques to assist in returning athletes to the field as fast as is safely possible. She also serves as the Education Coordinator for SwimEx, traveling internationally to train people in aquatic therapy.
In February of 2013, Olson received the Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award from the National Athletic Trainers Association. The Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer (MDAT) award recognizes NATA members who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to leadership, volunteer service, advocacy and distinguished professional activities as an athletic trainer. MDAT recipients have been involved in the service and leadership activities at the national and district level. This past spring she was invited to serve as a host Venue Medical Coordinator for the World Figure Skating Championships held in Boston, MA.
