Simulation Lab Assistant
“My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that an instructor directly affects the success of his or her students. Quality instructors teach more than just content from the textbooks; they teach students how to be successful in their future professional careers. Nursing instructors, specifically, must provide students with a solid knowledge foundation, safely teach skills in the clinical arena, and empower students to critically think while stressing the importance of core nursing values.”
I grew up here in Lakeland, Florida where I eventually attended Florida Southern College for my undergraduate studies. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from FSC and started practicing as an Emergency Department nurse at our local hospital. I have since transferred to the Labor and Delivery unit where I still currently practice. I have a passion for education, and have been working in the nursing simulation lab since 2015. In the simulation lab students care for patients and perform nursing skills in a safe and controlled environment. I am responsible for creating simulated patient scenarios as well as operating and maintaining the simulation equipment. I am currently enrolled in the Nurse Educator MSN program at Florida Southern College.
