The parents of a Florida Southern graduate, Mark and Lynn Hollis established the Hollis Fellows in Education program to provide scholarships to students majoring in education who plan to pursue careers in teaching. Scholarships are awarded to first-year students and are renewable each year. The annual award is $7,500 plus $500 for books.
To be eligible, candidates must graduate from a florida high school in the top 30 percent of their graduating class and have a minimum SAT score 1050 or ACT score of 22. Award recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 to qualify for renewal of the award. They must also sign an agreement to teach for three years in the Florida public school system following graduation from Florida Southern.
No application is required. Interviews are held at Scholars Weekend or by appointment with the Admissions Office.
