FSC professor receives Lover of Wisdom Award

LAKELAND, Fla. (May 16, 2005) — Dr. Timothy Toops, assistant professor of education at Florida Southern College, received the Lover of Wisdom Award during the college’s annual Honors Convocation held April 20. Toops has taught at Florida Southern since 2000.

The Lover of Wisdom Award is given each year to a member of the faculty or staff who displays, and helps to perpetuate, a great appreciation for wisdom. Candidates are nominated by members of Phi Eta Sigma, the freshman honor society, based on their love of their discipline, their enthusiasm, usually in a teaching capacity, and how much they encourage and "push" students to do their best.
