Watson Clinic CEO appointed to Florida Southern board of trustees
LAKELAND, Fla. (August 17, 2005) — Dr. Louis Saco, M.D., chief executive officer of the Watson Clinic and chairman of the Watson Clinic Foundation, has been appointed to Florida Southern College’s board of trustees. He will serve on the board for a three-year term. Saco has also joined the FSC faculty and will teach a pre-med seminar on topics in medicine. Saco received his medical degree from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., served his residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital, and his fellowship in gastroenterology at the Division of Digestive Disease and Nutrition, University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, N.C. In addition, Saco received his MBA from the University of South Florida School of Business. He has been a member of the Watson Clinic for 24 years, serving as CEO of the clinic and chair of the Watson Clinic Foundation since 2001. Saco also serves as the medical director of the Lakeland Surgical and Diagnostic Center and as the team physician for the Detroit Tigers and Lakeland Tigers baseball teams. “I am very pleased to have Dr. Saco join the board and our faculty,” said Dr. Anne Kerr, president of Florida Southern. “His medical expertise and leadership skills will be advantageous as we advance the college to the next level of excellence.” |
