FSC symphony and jazz bands join forces for annual Music Under the Stars Concert

LAKELAND, Fla. (Oct. 13, 2005) — Florida Southern College presents its annual “Music Under the Stars” featuring the FSC symphony and jazz bands on Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pipkin Bandshell on campus. Conductors Jo Jossim and Brian Brink share the podium.

Both the jazz ensemble and the symphony band will perform light selections suitable for an outdoor concert. The ensemble, comprised of 20 FSC students, will play traditional swing and Latin-jazz arrangements, Caribbean reggae, New Orleans “2nd Line Street” jazz and more. Students will be featured as improvisational soloists. Featured soloist with the symphony band will be senior music major and xylophonist Chris Bowen performing “Xylophonia” by Joe Green.

Admission is free with open seating. In the event of rain, the performance will be held in Branscomb Auditorium.
