FSC to host Florida College English Association’s annual conference

LAKELAND, Fla. (August 28, 2006) — Florida Southern College will host the Florida College English Association’s (FCEA) annual conference, to be held Nov. 9-10 on the FSC campus and at the Imperial Swan Hotel in Lakeland, Fla. Keith Huneycutt, FSC professor of English and chair of the English department, is the chair of the conference, the theme of which is “The Hero (and Anti-Hero) in the Sunshine State: Conchs, Crackers, Crooks, Explorers, Pioneers, Detectives, Poets, Lovers….”

“We are looking forward to an engaging exploration of Florida’s literature, history, lore and idiosyncrasies, by the leading English specialists and educators in our state,” said Huneycutt. “It is a privilege for FSC to host this important event, and a testament to the strength of our English department.” 

FSC is scheduling over 100 speakers on English language, literature and pedagogy from colleges and universities across the state. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 8. For more information, visit www.flacea.org/Conferences/callforpapers2006.htm.
