Philippine National Dance Company performs at Florida Southern

LAKELAND, Fla. (Nov. 6, 2006) — Florida Southern College and the Festival of Fine Arts present the Bayanihan Philippine National Dance Company. The performance takes place Nov. 26 at 2:30 p.m. in the Branscomb Auditorium on campus.

The Bayanihan Dance Company has performed around the world since the 1950s when it was created to research ethnic rites and tribal folklore.  The company transformed cultural traditions into theatrical presentations to promote international understanding through performances abroad.  Designated the official National Folk Dance Company of the Philippines, Bayanihan is in its 50th year of performances.
