FSC Forensic Team members make strong showing at UWF tournament

LAKELAND, Fla. (March 14, 2007) —Florida Southern Forensic Team seniors Chris Riccio and Ronnie Hess had strong showings at the University of West Florida (UWF) Marks Invitational Tournament held March 3-4, with Riccio earning a first place trophy in After Dinner Speaking and Hess placing fourth in Impromptu Speaking.

The tournament featured 11 colleges and universities competing in 11 speaking events and a Lincoln Douglas Debate. Riccio and Hess, the only members of the FSC team to attend the tournament, were entered in a total of three events and placed in the top six in two of those events.

This is the third tournament this semester in which Hess has broken into finals in Impromptu Speaking. Riccio had been unable to attend earlier competitions in the spring semester but his first place finish was a return to his solid performance in the fall.  Both students will be competing at the National Forensic Association national tournament in April.

The Florida Southern Forensic Team began competing in intercollegiate competition in fall 2005, and is sponsored through a generous grant by local businessman, C.C. “Doc” Dockery.
