FSC theatre department presents “Noises Off”

LAKELAND, Fla. (Sept. 13, 2007) — Florida Southern College’s theatre arts department begins its 2007-2008 season with “Noises Off,” by Michael Frayn, in the Loca Lee Buckner Theatre on the college campus as part of FSC’s Festival of Fine Arts. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 27-29 and Oct. 4-6; matinees start at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 30 and Oct. 7. Paul Bawek of the theatre arts department directs the play.

Michael Frayn's comedy is a zany backstage farce about a traveling theater group that finds so much action going on backstage that they almost ruin their onstage performances. “Noises Off” opened in London in 1982, won that year’s award for Best Comedy, and continued for five years. It premiered on Broadway in 1983 and ran for over 500 performances. Considered one of the most well-known of British comedies, it has been performed by countless theatre companies all over the world.

Tickets are $15. FSC students are admitted free. Non-FSC students pay half price. For ticket information, please contact the Buckner Theatre box office at 863-680-3089 or bucknerboxoffice@flsouthern.edu. Box office hours are weekdays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
