FSC Theatre Department presents "Man of La Mancha"

Artist-in-Residence Robert MacDonald stars in title role

LAKELAND, Fla. (Jan. 31, 2008) — Florida Southern College’s theatre arts department will present “Man of La Mancha,” starring artist-in-residence Robert MacDonald, in the Loca Lee Buckner Theatre on the college campus as part of FSC’s Festival of Fine Arts. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 14-16 and Feb. 21-23; matinees start at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 17 and Feb. 24. James F. Beck of the theatre arts department directs the play.

“Man of La Mancha” is one of Broadway's most inspiring musicals. The five-time Tony Award-winning show, based on Cervantes’ classic novel “Don Quixote” and set during the Spanish Inquisition, tells the story of a noble and idealistic knight-errant, Don Quixote. With the help of his faithful servant, Sancho Panza, he takes a romantic and noble journey to right all wrongs; dueling windmills and battling evildoers in his quest to battle the powerful enemies of cynicism and brutality and to honor Dulcinea, the woman of his dreams.

Tickets are $15. FSC students are admitted free. Non-FSC students pay half price. For ticket information, please contact the Buckner Theatre box office at 863-680-3089 or bucknerboxoffice@flsouthern.edu. Box office hours are weekdays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
