Florida Southern alumnus receives achievement citation

LAKELAND, Fla. (March 18, 2005) - Florida Southern College honors alumnus David Glod, a 1984 graduate, at its Founders Day convocation April 1 at 10:10 a.m. in Branscomb Auditorium on the FSC campus. Glod will receive the Alumni Achievement Citation, awarded to FSC alumni for excellence in a profession or endeavor.

"Florida Southern College has exceptional alumni around the world who are leaders in their professions," said Shari Szabo, director of alumni relations. "The Alumni Association proudly recognizes David Glod as one of the best of the best during our Homecoming weekend."

Glod, who earned his degree at FSC in marketing, is president of Tour Edge, a top-20 golf club design and manufacturing company based in St. Charles, Ill. Begun in 1986, the company nearly doubled its sales annually over the next 10 years, and its products are now distributed in 22 countries.

A former Mocs golfer, Glod became more interested in the inner workings of a golf club than in playing the game, and he began repairing and designing golf equipment in his garage. He still designs all the clubs that Tour Edge manufactures. Glod's commitment to his business and customers earned him the 2001 Industry Honors Business Achievement Award from the International Network of Golf.
