Florida Southern division chair selected for HERS Wellesley Institute
![]() LAKELAND, Fla. (Sept. 3, 2008) — Dr. Carmen Gauthier, chemistry professor and chair of the science and mathematics division at Florida Southern College, has been selected for the Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) leadership and management program at Wellesley College in Wellesley, Mass. The institute brings 50 women from across the country each year to Wellesley for a series of five inter-related weekend seminars throughout the academic year. HERS is an educational non-profit organization providing leadership and management development for women in higher education administration. Since 1972 more than 3,000 women leaders have attended HERS Institutes and participated in a variety of HERS workshops and activities. “I am honored to have been chosen to participate in the HERS Institute at Wellesley College,” Gauthier said. “As a division chair I believe my greatest responsibility rests in leading my division in the development of a strategic plan that will guide us over the next five years. I believe that my participation in the HERS Institute will strengthen my leadership and managerial skills and provide me with the necessary tools to best orchestrate positive growth. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Kerr for nominating me and to Florida Southern College for the many opportunities it has afforded me in my professional growth.” |
