FSC Establishes 'Yellow Ribbon' Scholarships For War Veterans

LAKELAND, Fla. (Dec. 7, 2008) — The Florida Southern College Board of Trustees and president Dr. Anne B. Kerr announce today the establishment of three “Yellow Ribbon” scholarships for students who are war veterans of the U.S. armed forces.

The scholarships provide tuition for students attending the College who qualify under the Post-911 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, also known as the “New GI Bill.”

In announcing the scholarships, Dr. Kerr said, “Florida Southern has a rich tradition of preparing students to serve their country in positive and consequential ways. The campus community is indebted to the men and women who have served our country in wartime, and this scholarship is an expression of our gratitude.”

The deadline to apply for a Florida Southern College Yellow Ribbon Scholarship is March 1, 2009.
