FSC Music Faculty to Perform at Festival of Fine Arts

LAKELAND, Fla. (Jan. 15, 2009) —The FSC Festival of Fine Arts is pleased to present the Florida Southern College Faculty Showcase on Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Branscomb Auditorium on the Florida Southern campus.

A faculty brass quintet performing composer Howard Buss’ composition, “Sonic Fables: Lessons from Aesop,” will include department chair Dr. Brian Brink, (trombone); Festival coordinator Larry Burke (tuba) ;jazz ensemble director Paul Butcher (trumpet); percussion instructor Dr. David Coash (percussion); and horn instructor Dr. Candler Schafer (horn). Robert MacDonald, director of piano studies, will perform works by Debussy and Gershwin; Rita Fandrich, piano instructor, will feature Franz Liszt’s “Hungarian Rhapsody;” and Diane Willis Stahl and Dr. John Thomasson, vocal professors, will sing a variety of contemporary songs accompanied by Paula Parsché, piano and theory professor.
