Courtney Sturgill Zips Past Competition

LAKELAND (Feb. 18, 2009) — FSC freshman Courtney Sturgill won three circuit championships and 10 events total last weekend at the Martinganza, a premier equestrian competition held annually in Williamston, N.C.

Courtney, a communication major from Virginia, competed with her horse, Barely Zippin, a 12-year-old gelding, in Western and English events. She and "Bear" lead the state of Florida in point standings.

Courtney also recently qualified for Team USA in the American Quarter Horse Youth World competition and will compete internationally.
