FSC Senior Named Student of the Year by Florida Career Professionals Association
LAKELAND, Fla. (June 11, 2009) — Florida Southern College student Evelyn Hernandez has been named Student of the Year by the Florida Career Professionals Association, a statewide partnership of career professionals in higher education, government and industry. Hernandez, of Winter Haven, is a senior majoring in communication with a concentration in broadcasting. She already has several highly competitive internships on her resumé. Last summer, she interned at State Farm Insurance Co. and worked with a team to develop a marketing plan for young adults. This summer, she is interning at Auto Owners Insurance, and in the fall, she will intern at PGTV. She also worked on Visión Latina, a Spanish-language newspaper published by The Ledger. She volunteers as a reading tutor with the Polk Literacy Council and as a translator for migrant workers. At FSC, she maintains a high GPA and serves as a Career Peer counselor and serves an officer in the National Broadcast Society and the Student Organization of Latinos. The Florida Career Professionals Association is a statewide organization dedicated to building Florida's workforce by promoting innovative internships, cooperative education, and career opportunities through education, government, and industry partnerships. |
