FSC Theatre Department Presents Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap"

Murder-Mystery is Longest-Running Show in History

LAKELAND, Fla. (Sept. 15, 2009) Florida Southern Colleges Theatre Arts Department opens the 2009-2010 season with "The Mousetrap," Agatha Christies world-renowned murder mystery. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1-3 and Oct. 8-10, and matinees start at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 4 and Oct. 11, in the Loca Lee Buckner Theatre on campus. Paul D. Bawek directs.

In the play, a young couple opens a new hotel and is snowed in with four guests and a motorist who gets stuck in a nearby snowdrift. A detective arrives on skis to warn the group that he believes a murderer may be on the way, but when one of the guests is found dead, it becomes apparent that the murderer may already be among them. Known for its numerous plot twists and surprises, The Mousetrap is Christies most successful play. It has never stopped running and has been performed more than 23,000 times since its premiere in London in 1952.
