Jazz Greats Marvin Stamm and Bill Mays To Perform with FSC Jazz Ensemble & Combo

FSC's Jazz Ensemble LAKELAND, Fla. (Feb. 9, 2010) Florida Southern College and the Festival of Fine Arts proudly present the FSC Jazz Ensemble & Combo in concert Feb. 25 with celebrated jazz trumpeter Marvin Stamm and pianist Bill Mays, who have performed with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Lena Horne, and Sarah Vaughn. Under the direction of FSC Director of Jazz Studies Paul Butcher, the performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in Branscomb Memorial Auditorium on the Florida Southern campus. Widely praised for the art and craft of trumpet playing, Stamm has toured and recorded with jazz musicians including Sinatra, Horne, Quincy Jones, and George Benson. An eclectic and prolific pianist, composer, and arranger, Mays has toured and recorded with artists such as Vaughn, Benny Golson, Gerry Mulligan, and Frank Zappa. The two jazz veterans join the FSC Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo on stage for what promises to be a most memorable evening for all music lovers, and especially jazz aficionados. Tickets are $15. FSC students are admitted free of charge; non-FSC students are admitted at half-price.
