FSC to Present the American Classic 'The Crucible'

LAKELAND, Fla. (Nov. 10, 2010) Florida Southern College's Department of Theatre Arts and Festival of Fine Arts will present Arthur Miller's gripping drama, "The Crucible" at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18-20 and Dec. 2-4, and at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 21 and Dec. 5. All performances will be in the Loca Lee Buckner Theatre on the college campus.

Miller wrote "The Crucible" using the historical backdrop of the Salem witch trials as an allegory to 1950s McCarthyism and an exploration of guilt by association. In 1953, "The Crucible" won the Tony Award for "Best Play," and it has since become a central work in the canon of American drama.

Tickets are $15, and are available by contacting the Buckner Theatre box office at 863.680.4296 or bucknerboxoffice@flsouthern.edu. Box office hours are 2 to 6 p.m. weekdays. FSC students are admitted free; other students pay half-price.
