LAKELAND (Dec. 7, 2011) – The Florida Southern College Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society, has received the Maurice A. Clay Leadership Development grant from the society’s national office.

The FSC Circle was one of just six nationwide to receive the prestigious grant, out of 22 that applied.

The $500 grant will be used to enhance the FSC Circle’s High School Leadership Symposium, which is conducted jointly with the Lakeland Leadership Alumni Association. The Symposium is an event for high school students that includes a series of leadership workshops and guest speakers to help identify the students’ personal leadership skills, as well as to enhance these skills and to learn how they may apply them in real-world settings.

This is the first time the FSC Circle has received the grant, said Larry Burke, the Circle’s faculty secretary. In September, the FSC Circle was named Superior, ODK’s second-highest distinction.
