FSC
student organization holds a walk for peace
LAKELAND, Fla.
(Nov. 6, 2001) - The members of the International Student Association
and other organizations at Florida Southern College (SGA, Newman
Club, Commuter Student Association, Shades of Color, etc.) will
walk around Florida Southern College's campus with their countries'
flags Thursday, Nov. 15, at 4:30 p.m. The walk is part of the events
to celebrate International Education Week (Nov. 12 -16).
Maria Fossi,
director of the international student program, said, "We want
to show that all international students have come in peace to share
their cultures in order to learn from each other. We hope that this
simple act will become an example for others to reflect about what's
important in life."
The International
Student Association aims to assist international students with cultural
adjustment issues and to spread cultural awareness through a variety
of cross-cultural activities and events. Membership is open to all
students, both foreign and domestic. For more information on the
walk or the association, contact Maria Fossi or Hiromi Watanabe
at (863) 680-3950.
