Robert MacDonald
and colleagues perform
at statewide music teacher's convention
LAKELAND, Fla. (Nov. 19, 2002) - FSC music faculty members performed
a special Schubert program Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Florida State
Music Teacher's Association annual state conference, held this year
in Miami. The concert was entitled "Schubertiade" in the manner
of musical gatherings in 19th century Vienna of Schubert's supporters
and friends. The concert also served to herald the forthcoming 175th
anniversary of Schubert's death.
The unique words-and-music presentation was performed and narrated
by the groups' members: mezzo-soprano Diane Stahl, pianist Paula
Parsché, violinist Arthur Pranno, tenor Darrell Parsons, and artist-in-residence
Robert MacDonald, who compiled the script and performed variously
as piano soloist, accompanist, and partner in keyboard duets with
Parsché.
The presentation received enthusiastic responses from audience members,
including comments from some of Florida's most highly regarded music
teachers. "It truly impressed the highly professional audience and
gave distinctly positive publicity for the music program at Florida
Southern," said MacDonald.
