Florida Southern
Again Has Strong Showing
in US News College Rankings
LAKELAND, Fla. (Sept.
13, 2002) - Florida Southern College is listed as the eleventh best
school in the south in the comprehensive colleges - bachelor's category
for the annual U.S News and World Report rankings. The rankings
were released over night and appear in the special publication,
U.S. News America's Best Colleges. The colleges are rated in the
areas of graduation and retention rank, faculty resources rank,
student/faculty ratio and percentage of full-time faculty, to name
a few of the categories. The category features institutions that
focus on undergraduate education and offer a range of degree programs
in the liberal arts, which account for fewer than half of their
bachelor's degrees, and in professional fields such as business,
nursing, and education. There were 324 comprehensive colleges ranked
within four regions: North, South, Midwest, and West.
"We are pleased to be recognized once again by U.S News and World
Report as one of the best colleges in our region," said FSC President
Dr. Thomas L. Reuschling. "We offer our students an outstanding
undergraduate education and it's nice to be acknowledged by a national
publication for it. Our 1800 student enrollment is testimony to
that quality."
Florida Southern was ranked seventh in the Best Values category
for southern comprehensive colleges- bachelor's.
