faculty and students
attend injuries course in Orlando
LAKELAND, Fla. (Feb. 5,
2004) - FSC athletic training students accompanied James Lynch,
athletic training professor; Sue Stanley Green, director of the
athletic training program; and Jason Tarantino, staff athletic trainer,
to the 22nd Annual Injuries in Baseball Course held Jan. 29-31 in
Orlando. The course is conducted by James Andrews, M.D., one of
the top orthopedic consultants in major league baseball.
Several major league baseball team physicians and athletic trainers
gave lectures during the three-day course. Sessions included the
biomechanics of throwing, the strength and conditioning programs
used by several professional baseball teams, evaluation and rehabilitation
of injuries, and anatomy and surgical techniques of both the shoulder
and elbow.
Students attending the course included:
Camitta Abraham, a junior from Poughkeepsie, N.Y. She is the
daughter of Curtis Abraham and Magdalene Smith.
Edward Betzer, a freshman residing in Mulberry, Fla.
Conan Brooks, a senior from Boca Raton, Fla. He is the son of
Carl and Laura Brooks.
Molly Carver, a sophomore. She is the daughter of Gary and Jeanne
Carver of Orlando, Fla.
Erica Dhuy, a junior. She is the daughter of Eric Dhuy of Kenvil,
N.J., and MaryBeth Wenrich of Morris Plains, N.J.
Ireliam Guadalupe, a sophomore from Lehigh Acres. She is the
daughter of Peter and Lourdes Guadalupe.
Dennis Krahe, a senior from Manistee, Mich. He is the son of
Tom and Donna Krahe.
Margarita Mendez, a junior from Grand Island, Fla. She is the
daughter of Jose and Mariana Mendez.
Matthew Nethercutt, a senior from Kissimmee, Fla. He is the
son of George and Rebecca Nethercutt.
Anthony Sandoval, a sophomore from Winter Haven. He is the son
of Mary Drumm.
Corey Tremble, a junior. He is the son of Dudley and Annemarie
Tremble of Westwood, N.J.
Amanda Wetherbee, a junior. She is the daughter of Robert and
Dianna Wetherbee of Winter Haven, Fla.
