FSC student awarded Phi Eta Sigma scholarship
LAKELAND, Fla. (May 17, 2004) - FSC senior Erin Lyn Smith was awarded a scholarship for $1,000 from Phi Eta Sigma, the National Freshman Honor Society. The biology major and chemistry and business minor was one of only 109 receiving the scholarship award.
Smith was nominated by the FSC chapter of Phi Eta Sigma from applications submitted by a committee of student and faculty members. Applicants are judged on their academic record, continued plans for study, participation in Phi Eta Sigma and other organizations on and off campus, work experience, and creative abilities. "It is quite an accomplishment for Erin to have been chosen to receive this award at the national level," said Dr. Nancy Morvillo, FSC biology professor and faculty advisor for the campus chapter. "We are very proud of her, and all our Phi Eta Sigma members, for their outstanding academic accomplishments and contributions to the college and community at large."
Smith is the daughter of Kenneth Smith and Saralyn Smith of Lakeland, Fla.
