Psychology professor
honored with
Exemplary Teacher Award
LAKELAND, Fla. (Nov. 10, 2003) - Florida
Southern College presented the General Board of Higher Education
and Ministry Exemplary Teacher Award for 2003 to Dr. Christopher
Weaver, professor and chair of the psychology department. The award
is presented to a member of the faculty, selected by peers, who
exemplifies "excellence in teaching, civility, and concern for students
and colleagues; commitment to value-centered education; and service
to students, the institution, and the community."
The selection committee noted Weaver's excellence as a teacher and
colleague for the past 27 years, stating, "He has consistently demonstrated
a connection to students in class and out and serves as a model
for other faculty members. He exemplifies civility among both students
and faculty, sets high expectations for himself and others, and
his reputation as a 'nice guy' is legendary."
Weaver joined FSC in 1976. He received his bachelor's degree from
Trenton State College and his master's and doctorate from the University
of Virginia.
