Psychology professor honored with
Exemplary Teacher Award

LAKELAND, Fla. (Nov. 10, 2003) - Florida Southern College presented the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry Exemplary Teacher Award for 2003 to Dr. Christopher Weaver, professor and chair of the psychology department. The award is presented to a member of the faculty, selected by peers, who exemplifies "excellence in teaching, civility, and concern for students and colleagues; commitment to value-centered education; and service to students, the institution, and the community."

The selection committee noted Weaver's excellence as a teacher and colleague for the past 27 years, stating, "He has consistently demonstrated a connection to students in class and out and serves as a model for other faculty members. He exemplifies civility among both students and faculty, sets high expectations for himself and others, and his reputation as a 'nice guy' is legendary."

Weaver joined FSC in 1976. He received his bachelor's degree from Trenton State College and his master's and doctorate from the University of Virginia.
