First-Year Advice:
Fall registration is just
around the corner. Your student is working with their advisor to determine the
best courses to take in the fall term. In most cases, students will begin
taking more courses within their chosen major, while still continuing to
complete the general education requirements. If your student is still undecided
about their major, they may wish to speak to someone in our office or our
career center. Based on interest areas, we often help students make connections
with faculty members who can further discuss options one may have with a
particular major. At FSC we work collaboratively to best serve our students.
Second-Year Insight:
Community Living is offering
a unique experience to second-year students interested in a living-learning
environment committed to the development and success of sophomores.
Students will be housed in Dell Hall and will participate in activities, events
and services exclusive to sophomores at FSC. Online application is due Friday,
March 29 by 5 p.m. Students must indicate Second-Year Experience as their
Òpreferred community.Ó

From the FSC Counseling Center:
Sick and Tired. Most healthy young people expect to be young and
healthy forever. Unfortunately, life sometimes takes an unexpected turn
and even the most vigorous young person can experience a health crisis.
Coping with a serious health problem is exhausting in itself; doing so while
trying to perform well academically may simply be impossible. In such
cases, a medical withdrawal may be the choice least disruptive to the studentÕs
academic career. Even so, the decision to request a medical withdrawal is
not one to be made lightly. The student considering this possibility
should seek guidance from family, medical professionals, and various college
offices. Here are some of the points you can help your student to think
through:
Your studentÕs medical
providers can help answer some of these questions. Others will require
information from various campus departments, including faculty, Financial Aid,
Disability Services, Student Solutions, and Student Development. As you
and your student work through all the ins and outs of dealing with a serious
illness, donÕt forget the Counseling Center. We can offer supportive
counseling to your student and help him or her work through the many thoughts
and feelings that arise during this stressful time.
From the FSC Career Center:
The Rising Senior Celebration
Dinner will take place Tuesday, March 19 at 6:00 p.m. in the Thrift
Alumni Room. This is an event for juniors who have responded to their
invitations!
Is your student curious to
know how their major fits in with the career they want? Perhaps theyÕre
wondering what type of internship they could get this summer and how to prepare
for it? We invite them to come by the Career Center and make an appointment to
meet with one of the Career Counselors to start planning!
From the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center:
