From the FSC Counseling Center:
Oh, My Goodness, Look at the Time!
It happens every year—right after Thanksgiving, the semester goes into
warp drive and zooms to an end. Just two weeks of classes followed by
exam week and then itÕs all over. I hope your student has had a wonderful
semester filled with successes of every kind: academic accomplishments,
rewarding friendships, and lots of deep conversations about the meaning of
life. If so, congratulations to your student and to you for a job well
done! But what if the term hasnÕt been so great for your student?
Then what? There can be many reasons for a less-than-stellar
academic performance. Maybe your student hasnÕt yet found the balance
between work and play. Or maybe poor stress management was the problem.
Or conflict in an important relationship. Whatever the issues and
concerns preventing your student from succeeding, help is available.
Encourage a visit to the Counseling Center soon.

WOMENÕS
BASKETBALL TEAM EXTENDS WIN STREAK TO SIX, RANKED 22nd É The womenÕs basketball team continues to enjoy life on
the road. In their first game since being ranked 22nd in this
weekÕs USA TODAY/ESPN Division II CoachesÕ Poll, the Moccasins extended their
winning streak to six straight games, all on the road, with a 99-48 win at
Flagler Wednesday night.
MENÕS BASKETBALL TEAM ALSO NATIONALLY RANKED HEADING TO ROLLINS É Ranked
22nd in this weekÕs NABC/Division II Coaches Poll, the menÕs
basketball team is enjoying a four-game winning streak as it heads into
SaturdayÕs early season showdown with preseason conference favorite
Rollins. The Moccasins (4-1) won their own Terrace Hotel/Ledger Media
Group Tournament last weekend, downing Limestone, 87-78, and topping Armstrong
Atlantic, 85-84, in the championship game.
FSC WATER SKIER EARNS NATIONAL AWARD É
Florida Southern's Lauren Morgan has been
named the National Collegiate Water Ski Association Female Athlete of the Year.
The freshman from Odessa, Fla., helped lead the FSC women to a first-place
finish at the NCWSA Championship in October, placing third in the women's
overall point totals. She was the individual winner in the jump competition,
was fifth in the tricks and ninth in the slalom.
Final
Thoughts – Let me warn you now – I am planting a mind
worm– the song is ÒFinal Countdown.Ó Yes, itÕs a bit on the heavy metal
side, but the title captures the next two weeks for your student as he/she
concentrates on Academic Preparation Week and then Finals.
Wish them luck. Give them encouragement. Cheer them on. Your
student is about to complete the fall semester. The Final Countdown is on.
All the best – Shari
