Department of Safety and Security
Campus Safety Advisory Board Meeting Minutes
March 16, 2005 There were 8 participants
1. Weapons of Mass Destruction training. Dorothy reported this was a very successful all day training held on campus March 11th with 41 attending. It was sponsored by the Office of Homeland Security and co-sponsored by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators. To date 8 officers from our office have completed the training. Dorothy was able to show the group the types of materials participants received. Lunch was held in Eleanor Searle Drawing Room and Subs N Such donated sandwiches, salads and cookies for the event. Dorothy felt it gave some good exposure of the campus for those attending and may have something in The Southern since so many students were involved. 2. Airport Shuttle. For Spring Break. 6 students used for shuttle to Orlando and 5 to Tampa. We have also contacted a St. Petersburg company and they may be an option as well in the future. 3. Safe Spring Break Week. Our CAST members were very involved and made display boards for the Cafeteria and Wellness Center along with information boards for on campus. Dorothy asked Mia what she thought of the activities that week and she said she had gone to “Drink Think” and thought it was very worthwhile and informative. Mia also said that the Counseling Center put together a very good booklet with a lot of good information for students.
