Should I Audition?
If you are interested in pursuing a B.F.A. in Theatre Arts, Florida Southern’s Department of Theatre Arts requires an audition.
An audition is also required for applicants who wish to be considered for talent-based scholarship awards.
Auditions will be held on the following dates:
Schedule your audition by completing the form below. An audition request must be completed at least 48 hours prior to the audition date. If you have any questions about the audition process, please email Jessica Parker at email@example.com.
Please be aware that auditions begin at 1pm and may go past 5pm depending on the number of students auditioning. If you are flying in for an audition please plan your flights accordingly. Please list any time or travel constraints you may have on the registration form.
It is recommended, but not required, that the student apply to the college before their audition. This will expedite the scholarship process.
Preparing For Your Audition
Perform two contrasting monologues, 60 – 90 seconds each.
B.F.A. Musical Theatre
Perform two contrasting songs, 32 bars or 90 seconds each. Please bring a recording of your accompaniment. For the dance portions of the audition come prepared with dance attire and jazz or ballet shoes with light-colored soles.
B.F.A. Technical Theatre
Prepare a portfolio of your technical work to present and discuss with Department Chair James Beck.
All potential BFA and scholarship students must provide the following by the date of their audition:
- A resume, focusing on your experience in the arts.
- Two letters of recommendation from someone you have worked with in an artistic sense: teachers, directors, vocal coaches, etc.

Resumes, headshots, and letters of recommendation can be submitted digitally using the registration form. Video auditions should be emailed via Dropbox link to firstname.lastname@example.org. All documents and video audition can also be mailed to the following address:
