The FSC outdoor recreation program offers students a variety of fun outdoor activities, such as bicycling, horseback riding, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, and camping. These trips are a great way to meet new friends who share similar interests and to learn new skills. One day excursions, overnight trips, and break trips enable participants to enjoy the real Florida at its state parks and recreational facilities.

 

Deep Sea Fishing Trip. Catch your dinner on this fun Outdoor Recreation trip! Participants will set sail and fish for yellow tail snapper, grouper, grunt, sharks, or anything else that takes the bait. This trip is available free to students, but space is limited. Items included on this trip are: transportation by FSC van, boat fee, fishing license, rod and reel rental, and bait. Students may keep their catch or give it to the FSC collection for those who would like to take home more.

Manatee Trip. Come snorkel with these gentle giants in Crystal River. This program is a 2 day, 1 night program and costs only $35,which includes wet suit rental. Participants will camp at a campground near the snorkel experience, and wake up early to visit the manatees. Participants will receive instruction on proper interaction with the manatee, as these are wild manatee in their natural environment. Trip fee includes: travel by FSC van, meals, campsite and camping gear, snorkel rental and snorkel experience. Don’t forget to bring an underwater camera!

Horseback Riding. Do you love horses? Take a relaxing trail ride with a friend or your significant other!  This trip is designed for riders of all experience levels. No experience is necessary to participate. All riders must wear a helmet during the ride. You may borrow a helmet from the stable, or wear your own bike helmet.

Paint Ball. Play paintball with your friends for a couple of hours. Bust some stress and paint pellets before exam week! The required gear is provided along with a starting quantity of paint balls. Participants may purchase additional ammo at the shop.

Rock Climbing. Are you climbing the walls of your residence hall room? Try climbing real walls and test your strength and endurance skills! This trip is for the novice to experienced rock climber. Aiguille Rock Gym in Orlando has more than 25 walls for various climbing abilities. Students will learn the safety rules of the ropes and how to belay for each other, followed by four hours of climb time.
