Biography

Allison Baber has been apart of the Florida Southern College Faculty since 2018. She comes with an extensive performance and teaching background. Allison danced professionally with Hartford Ballet, Smuin Ballet, Ballet Met, Neville Dance Theatre, Covenant Ballet, Florida Dance Theatre, and the 1st National Tour ‘Movin Out’ . She has danced all over the U.S, Canada & Japan. She has had the opportunity to dance works by such notable choreographers as Michael Smuin, Kirk Peterson, Dwight Rhoden, Stanton Welch, Graham Lustig, Twyla Tharp, & George Balanchine. Allison has danced in Classics such as Swan Lake, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia, the Nutcracker, as well as many contemporary works. She has had a chance to dance many soloist roles, some of her favorite being ‘Lilac Fairy’ in Sleeping Beauty, ‘Medea’ from Michael Smuin’s Medea, the Lead girl in Heinz Poll’s ‘Bolero’, & the Bride in Michael Smuin’s ‘Les Noces’.

Allison is certified in all levels of the American Ballet Theatre Training Curriculum. Allison specializes in teaching Ballet to all levels as well as the Pilates Method, Gyrotonic® & Gyrokinesis® Methods. Allison has taught on staff at Steps on Broadway, Ballet Tech, Covenant Ballet Theatre, Castro Valley Performing Arts School, Kinespirit Pilates and Gyrotonic, Florida Dance Theatre, Club Pilates Valrico/Lakeland, and Orlando Ballet. Allison has also had the opportunity to guest teach at Rochelle School of the Arts, Westlake School for the Performing Arts, Sugar Loaf Performing Arts School, & Windermere Preparatory School.
