Cornerstone Council

Turning our values into everyday practice.

About the Cornerstone Council

The Cornerstone Council is a cross-functional group that brings together partners from across the College to translate our shared values into action. The Council connects and strengthens work happening across the College, helping ensure that our practices and everyday experiences reflect the principles of the Cornerstone.

Through collaboration, practical tools, coordinated initiatives, and evidence-informed recommendations, the Council works to foster a community where all members can thrive.

“Florida Southern College scholars are called to respect the dignity, value, and worth of all persons — learning from the differences in people, ideas, and opinions.”

What We Do

The Cornerstone Council focuses on practical, coordinated action that strengthens the student and campus experience. Our work includes:

  • Identifying opportunities and needs and recommending clear, actionable next steps
  • Designing practical tools and resources that support consistent practices across the College
  • Piloting and advancing initiatives that translate the Cornerstone into everyday experiences
  • Coordinating across units to align efforts, strengthen collaboration, and reduce duplication

How We Work

Our approach reflects the Cornerstone and a commitment to effective, collaborative action:

  • Cornerstone-Anchored: Grounded in integrity, dignity, respect, and care
  • Action-Oriented: Start small, test ideas, and scale what works
  • Evidence-Informed: Use data and feedback to guide decisions
  • Collaborative and Cross-Functional: Align efforts across divisions
  • Respectful Dialogue: Invite different perspectives and encourage meaningful participation
  • Shared Accountability: Establish clear ownership and outcomes
