Your Path to a U.S. Degree and Career

Florida Southern College is one of the top-ranked private graduate schools in the South — and a true community for international students seeking more than just a credential. Our graduate programs offer world-class faculty, hands-on learning, and a welcoming, student-centered community.

Whether you're pursuing specialized knowledge, advancing your career, or gaining real U.S. work experience through OPT, FSC offers a clear path to success, all on an architecturally renowned campus with the labs, research spaces, and modern facilities to support your growth.

Work in the U.S. for up to 36 months After Graduation With a STEM Degree

Three FSC graduate programs carry STEM designation from the U.S. Department of Education, making eligible graduates qualified for the STEM OPT extension — up to 36 months of work authorization beyond the standard 12-month OPT period.

That's three years to build your U.S. career after you finish your degree.

English Proficiency Requirements

If English is not your first language, you'll demonstrate proficiency with one of the following:

Exam / Test Minimum Score
TOEFL (iBT) — school code 5218 79
IELTS 6.5
Duolingo English Test 105
SAT 1110
ACT 22

You may waive this requirement if you've completed an English-language training program or at least one year at an English-speaking institution.

How to Apply

International graduate applicants follow the same core application as all graduate students, with additional international documents. First, review the admission requirements for your specific program, then complete the steps below.

  1. 1

All programs require the submission of a completed application for admission.

Deadlines: There are no formal deadlines, but you should apply at least one month before your intended start date to allow time for processing, visa arrangements, and travel. Enrollment is possible up to the first day of classes, but earlier is smoother.

  2. 2

Program's requirements. See your program page for program-specific materials.

International documents. All international applicants must also submit:

    • Official translated transcripts with a course-by-course evaluation (through SpanTran, AES, Josef Silny, WES, or another approved agency)
    • A bank letter verifying your sponsor's funds (written statement on bank letterhead, signed by a bank official)
    • A Sponsor's Guarantee Form
    • A valid passport
    • Proof of English proficiency, if English is not your first language (see minimum scores below)
  3. 3

Once admitted, submit your enrollment deposit to confirm your place. Your deposit is applied to your first-semester tuition, and it allows us to begin preparing the documents you'll need for your visa.

  4. 4

Once your place is secured, we'll help you take the final steps to study in the U.S.

    • Receive your I-20. After you're admitted and your financial documents are confirmed, Florida Southern issues your Form I-20, which you'll need to apply for your F-1 student visa.
    • Pay the SEVIS fee and apply for your visa. Use your I-20 to pay the I-901 SEVIS fee and schedule your F-1 visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate.
    • Plan your arrival. Once your visa is approved, you can make travel plans and prepare for orientation.

Our team is here to help you every step of the way.
