Financial Aid FAQ
Financial Aid Questions, Answered
For questions about a specific type of aid, you will also find answers on our Scholarships, Loan Options, and Florida State Financial Aid pages.
For billing and payment questions, visit Student Accounts.
No. As long as you are a full-time undergraduate student (12 to 18 credit hours per semester), your tuition and fees are the same whether or not you are a Florida resident.
Florida Southern is a residential community, and most students live in FSC housing all four years. If you will live with a parent or legal guardian within 30 miles of campus, or you meet another exemption (age 24 or older, married, or have dependent children), you may request a change of residence status by contacting your admissions counselor.
If your FAFSA does not reflect your family's current situation, email Financial Aid or call 863.680.4140 to discuss your options.
Email your scholarship confirmation letter to financialaid@flsouthern.edu, and we will note it on your account. Mail scholarship checks to the Office of Financial Aid, 111 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland, FL 33801. Once received, the scholarship is applied to your bill and is visible in your FSC Portal.
Scholarships and other aid are disbursed in yearly increments, so future years' awards cannot be moved into your final term. If you are bringing in advanced credit, talk with your admissions counselor and/or academic advisor about ways to enhance your degree with additional coursework.
FSC offers student employment, but we do not include estimated work-study earnings in your aid package the way some schools do. That is because you first apply for and secure a campus job, then earn money over the semester based on hours worked, paid directly to you. We think showing those dollars up front would be misleading. Email Financial Aid to learn more.
Apply at benefits.va.gov. Once you receive your Certificate of Eligibility, forward a copy to our VA certifying official in the Business Office/Student Accounts.
Yes. Your award letter summarizes the aid you have been offered; it is not a bill. Exact costs vary with housing assignment and course placement, and some students incur additional charges such as parking permits, health insurance, or program and lab fees. Always refer to your official bill for the complete list of charges. For billing and payment questions, visit Student Accounts.
