FSC SGA to Host Frank Lloyd Wright Day

Mar 27, 2023

For the third time in as many years, the Florida Southern College Student Government Association (SGA) will hold Frank Lloyd Wright Day, on Wednesday, March 29. All classes on campus are cancelled, allowing students an opportunity to take a much-needed mental health day during the Spring semester.

This unique Florida Southern event was created by FSC President Dr. Anne B. Kerr in 2021. Frank Lloyd Wright Day is an SGA-led initiative supported by the Division of Student Life, the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center, the Association of Campus Entertainment, the Office of Advancement, the Roux Library, FSC Dining Services, and the FSC Chaplain's Office.

Over the course of the day, different FSC departments across campus will offer events, raffles, games, and prizes for students. The program will begin with Daylight Yoga at 7 a.m., and continue with nearly 20 events planned throughout the day.

Among the highlights will be a zipline on Mr. George’s Green in the heart of campus, stuffed plush Campus Cats at the Fannin Center, karaoke in the Simmons Center, tie dyed shirts at the Wellness Center, and food galore. The evening will conclude with a live concert performed by recording artists The 502s at 7 p.m. on Mr. George’s Green.

The centerpiece of the day is the Moc Olympics, beginning at 1 p.m. at Badcock Memorial Gardens. The two-hour event will feature both competitive and recreational events, from a tug-of-war and dodgeball to bracelet making, cornhole, and therapy dogs.

“We want to thank Dr. Kerr and the administration for their absolute support of all students and our mental health,” said SGA President Carter Webb. “Allowing us to blow off steam as we head towards the end of the semester will help us perform at our very best.”
