Departmental Scholarships

We award departmental scholarships to students pursuing certain academic programs — including business, nursing, music, and education.

Art History and Museum Studies Scholarship

Applicants interested in receiving scholarship funding at Florida Southern may prepare and submit one sample of any of the following for review (minimum 2500 words):

  • An excellent example of art historical writing
  • An exhibition review
  • An essay on (1) what the arts mean to you, (2) why this program speaks to you and your interests, or (3) why museums matter

Submissions will be assessed for originality, creativity, clarity of writing, and individual voice.

Dance Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded based on an audition and interview by the dance faculty. BFA and BA auditions will automatically be considered for scholarship eligibility.

Gettys P. and Alice D. Alderman Scholarship

Established by eminent citrus executive and decorated World War II veteran, Gettys P. Alderman and his wife Alice, this scholarship supports promising students with financial need to pursue a degree in accounting. To qualify, students must be Florida residents, earn a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0, score 20 on the ACT or 1050 on the SAT, have been admitted to Florida Southern, major in Accounting, and submit a completed FAFSA to demonstrate financial need as determined by FSC’s Financial Aid office. No separate application is required, and eligible candidates will be notified during the enrollment process.

Hollis Fellows in Education

As parents of a Florida Southern graduate, Mark and Lynn Hollis established the Hollis Fellows in Education Program to provide scholarships to education majors who plan to pursue teaching careers.

The Minority Teacher Education Scholars (MTES) program is a collaborative performance-based scholarship program for African-American, Hispanic-American, Asian-American, and Native American students administered by the Florida Fund for Minority Teachers, Inc. (FFMT).

Music Scholarships

Music scholarships are awarded based upon skill level and area of concentration. Additionally, Florida Southern College awards $500 per year to members of an ensemble: band, chorale, orchestra (strings). Ensemble scholarships are only available for non-majors; auditions are required. For information, contact the Office of Admissions at 863.680.4131.

Nina B. Hollis Nursing Scholarships

To be considered, students must be admitted and enrolled in the undergraduate Bachelor of Science in nursing program, achieve academic excellence, and have a demonstrated financial need. Scholarships vary in amount and are renewable for each year of study.

No separate application is required, eligible candidates will be notified in the Admissions process.
